Pilot Cart Tagging Program

Pilot Cart Tagging Program

In an effort to improve recycling practices in the Village, the Glencoe Sustainability Task Force will be doing a pilot Cart Tagging Program on select streets in the southwestern part of the Village (see map). On Fridays in September, a small group of Sustainability Task Force volunteers will do a visual inspection of recycling carts at the curb before it is picked up on collection day. The volunteer will open the cart lid and do a quick visual check of the contents. If unacceptable items are seen in the cart, an “Oops” tag will be put on the cart to identify those items that should not be put in the cart. If no contaminants are found within the recycling cart, a “Thank You! Lookin’ Good” tag will be left. Areas included in the pilot program have been mailed a letter with more details. The teams of volunteers will be out on September 9, September 16, and September 30.
