March Declared as Women's History Month in Glencoe

At the March 17, 2022 Village Board of Trustees meeting, the Board declared March 2022 as Women's History Month in Glencoe.

A PROCLAMATION DECLARING MARCH 2022 AS WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH IN THE VILLAGE OF GLENCOE

 WHEREAS, the Village of Glencoe strives to be an inclusive and understanding community in which all citizens are respected and celebrated for their contributions, regardless of their gender and;

WHEREAS, the Village’s Welcoming and Inclusive Community Pledge affirms the Village’s stance against hate and discrimination, and recognizes that at every level of American society, people of all backgrounds contribute to our democracy, culture and economy, and;

WHEREAS, during Women’s History Month, the communities throughout the United States honor the countless contributions and achievements made by Women to our nation’s economic, cultural, scientific, spiritual and political developments, and;

WHEREAS, Women’s History Month originated in 1981 when Congress passed Pub. L. 97-28 which authorized and requested the President to proclaim the week beginning March 7, 1982 as “Women’s History Week.”

WHEREAS, the Village of Glencoe throughout its history has been a community made better by the countless contributions of its Female residents.

WHEREAS, the Village is proud to recognize the essential role Female Americans in shaping the history of our community and that of our state and nation.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIMED, that the Village President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Glencoe do hereby resolve that Women’s History Month be observed in the Glencoe community during the month of March 2022. FURTHER, all residents are urged to celebrate our nation’s diverse heritage and culture by participating in appropriate programs, activities and ceremonies, and especially, to learn of the rich history that Women have contributed to communities like Glencoe.
