Back to School Safety Reminders

District 35 schools will operate in-person for the 2021-2022 school year, with the first full week of school starting Monday, August 30. Click here to learn more about District 35's COVID-19 mitigation plans for students and teachers from the Board of Education.
As classes resume, traffic congestion near schools is likely as buses are picking up and dropping off passengers, children riding their bikes to school and parents are dropping their kids off on the way to work. Unfortunately, school-aged children are at high risk of being killed in school transportation-related crashes during the school year. To ensure that all are kept safe on their travels to school each day, please keep in mind the following reminders:


The Village and District 35 have also partnered to develop school walking and biking route maps to encourage more students and families to choose to walk and bike to and from school.
