All of Illinois remains in Phase 4 of Governor Pritzker’s Restore Illinois Plan, the State’s five-phased COVID-19 response plan, with suburban Cook County currently under COVID-19 mitigations. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in March, the Village has continued to rely on scientific public health information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) to protect the health and wellbeing of the Glencoe community.
Given current State COVID-19 restrictions, the Village has made the challenging decision to cancel the Glencoe’s treasured Light the Lights activities for 2020, including the ceremonial tree lighting event, beer and wine stroll, trackless train and other festive components. You can still look forward to visiting a brilliantly lit downtown Glencoe (and we will still turn on those lights on Friday, November 27), but our celebrations will take different forms this year.
The Village is actively working with the Glencoe Chamber of Commerce and other partners to put in place safe, creative activities so our community can still celebrate the holiday season.
