Flood Plain

Land within the boundaries of a flood plain may be affected by an overland source of water during large rain events as river banks overtop.
Within the Village of Glencoe areas affected by flood plains are limited to the far west side of the Village along the North Branch of the Chicago River. Addresses located in a flood plain area are required to purchase flood insurance to protect their property.
Flood plain information is regulated by the Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA). Flood plain maps are available for viewing and for purchase at the FEMA website.
Requests regarding floodplain boundaries within the Village may be made directly to the Engineering Division.
