Downtown Plan Overview

The Downtown Plan was adopted by the Village Board in December 2016. It was prepared over a three-year period of engagement between the Plan Commission and the community, a planning process referred to as the Downtown TuneUp. The name "TuneUp" was chosen deliberately in recognition that Downtown Glencoe isn't broken, but in need of updating to address current and future needs.

The plan includes findings and recommendations for the downtown area related to scale and boundaries, walkability and parking, Glencoe’s local economy, potential enhancements to wayfinding, streetscape design, and public spaces, planning guidelines for new development, and other enhancements.

The Downtown Plan is a roadmap and will serve as a guide for land use decisions as they arise regarding both public and private property.
