2020 United States Census -
Glencoe Complete Count Committee
The 2020 United States Census is almost here! Did you know that Census data impacts decisions made by all levels of government, including the Village of Glencoe? Census results help determine how over $675 billion in federal funding flows into states, counties and communities like Glencoe each year.
To help spread the word in advance of Census Day on April 1, 2020, the Village has partnered with the United States Census Bureau to create the first Glencoe Complete Count Committee. The Committee is comprised of local leaders that represent a variety of Glencoe’s government, educational, faith-based and community organizations. In addition, the Committee aims to help Glencoe residents understand the importance of Census data to the Glencoe community, motivate residents to respond to the Census and create opportunities for community members to do so before Census Day.
Quick Census Facts:
- Every household will have the option of responding to the Census online, by mail or by phone. 95% of households will receive their census invitation in the mail.
- Census information can only be used for Census statistics. All responses to U.S. Census Bureau surveys are kept completely confidential and cannot be used for law enforcement purposes.
- Children under the age of five are most likely to be missed during Census counts.
- Between March 12-20, nearly every Glencoe household will receive an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census from either a postal worker or a census worker. Each household will have the option of responding online, by mail or by phone. Every household that hasn't responded by early April will receive reminders and eventually a paper questionnaire.
