11 a.m., Monday, May 28, Veteran's Memorial Park (299 Park Avenue)
The Village of Glencoe and Glencoe Historical Society will remember veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country on the 150th anniversary of Memorial Day on Monday, May 28. Residents are invited to partake in a solemn ceremony at 11 a.m. at Veterans’ Memorial Park, 299 Park Avenue, led by community and religious leaders, Boy and Girl Scouts and other local students. The event will include a brief program honoring Glencoe veterans, flag-raising and wreath-laying. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the Takiff Center, 999 Green Bay Road.
Village Hall Closed
The Village of Glencoe Village Hall, 675 Village Court, will be closed on Monday, May 28 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday and resume normal business hours on Tuesday, May 29.
Garbage Collection Delayed
Garbage and recycling collection will be delayed one day in observance of the holiday as well. Monday collection will be on Tuesday, May 29 and Tuesday collection will be on Wednesday, May 30. Regular collection schedule will resume on Thursday, May 31. Yard waste collection on Wednesday will not be impacted by the holiday.
There are no other days in Glencoe that exemplify the spirit of community as much as Memorial Day and the Fourth of July. We hope that you are able to take part in these events once again this year!
