Sesquicentennial Celebration Planning: Call for Volunteers

Sesquicentennial Celebration Planning: Call for Volunteers

Kiraly_webBy Village Manager Phil Kiraly

I strongly believe that one of the Village’s greatest accomplishments in 2016 was that we hosted over 70 volunteers on our various Boards, Commissions and Committees. The premier services that the Village offers and the initiatives we pursue would be nowhere near as thoughtfully executed without these dedicated individuals. I am excited to report that a new opportunity to volunteer with the Village has emerged out of our community’s upcoming Sesquicentennial (150th birthday) in 2019 – something I think we are all looking forward to with great anticipation.

Village staff is working closely with the Glencoe Historical Society on the very early stages of the planning, which kicks-off with the formation of the initial Sesquicentennial Planning Group. Interested individuals should fill out the application found here. The Village and Historical Society plan to review this first round of applications the week of May 1 – but other opportunities to engage in the planning are expected, so stay tuned should you miss this first round.

Other vacancies exist on the Community Relations Forum, the group charged with carrying the message of the recently adopted Welcoming and Inclusive Community Pledge, as well as the Plan Commission. Applicants interested in these or any of our Boards, Committees and Commissions should also fill out the application found here.

Questions about applying to serve on the Sesquicentennial Planning Group may be directed to Megan Hoffman, Management Analyst, at mhoffman@villageofglencoe.org or (847) 461-1104
