Prepare for Severe Weather and Stay Connected

Kiraly_webBy Village Manager Phil Kiraly

Chicago weather, unruly and unforgiving, has already made its mark this spring. With more likely on the horizon, and with Severe Weather Awareness Week just behind us, now is as good a time as any for residents to register for (or update their information in) Glencoe CONNECT.

By registering for Glencoe CONNECT, you will receive urgent information (i.e. power outages, water main breaks, etc.) and other time-sensitive updates from the Village via calls and text sent to your home, mobile or business phones and e-mail. New this year, staff will use Glencoe CONNECT to remind residents about April Hydrant Flushing as well as any mosquito sprayings that are necessary this summer. Get started here

This month is also a good time to freshen up on your emergency preparedness plan with your family. Practice makes perfect – so make a plan that your whole family understands and take time to practice it. Ready.gov suggests having emergency supplies, such as a battery-operated radio, food, water and extra medication on hand at all times.

Along similar lines, I also encourage residents to register for our new bi-weekly Village eNews. This new update is being used to share Village board news, upcoming event details, street construction notices, seasonal service updates and more with the community. Register here.

Questions about Glencoe CONNECT or Village eNews may be directed to Megan Hoffman, Management Analyst, at mhoffman@villageofglencoe.org or (847) 461-1104.
