After the heat wave in late September, it hardly seems possible that fall is here! As we settle in to fall in Glencoe, check out these special events taking place around the community:

  • Thursday, October 12: Autumn Brews – Seasonal Beer Tasting in the Garden
6-8 p.m., Chicago Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake Cook Road, ticket price varies
Welcome the fall weather and celebrate Oktoberfest locally! Receive a wristband, tasting glass and tasting sheet to try seasonally selected beers from local breweries. Guests must be 21 years of age or older, and advanced ticket purchase is recommended. For more information, please call (847) 835-5440.
  • Monday, October 16: Coffee with the Board
    7-9 a.m., Starbucks (347 Park Avenue)
The Village Board wants to hear about what local issues are most important to you. Enjoy a cup of coffee and meet with members of the Board to learn about current Village initiatives, such as recent changes to the Garbage Collection Program, and to discuss ways the Village can better serve our community. No RSVP necessary – stop by anytime that you can!

  • Wednesday, October 18: Buckthorn Barbeque – Planetary Heroes!
6-9 p.m., Nichols Hall, Chicago Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake Cook Road, $100/ticket
The Friends of the Green Bay Trail invite you to the 7th Annual Buckthorn Barbeque Fundraiser to support ongoing efforts to protect our community’s natural beauty! Proceeds benefit the restoration of the Green Bay Trail, along with the removal of invasive species and planting of natives.
  • October – December 2017: Quixote – On the Conquest of Self
7:30 p.m., Writers Theatre (Shows continue through December 17)
Get your tickets to join in the exciting adventures of Don Quixote before it is too late! Based on the classic novel by Miguel de Cervantes, Quixote transports audiences between time periods: from the fascinating universes created by Cervantes to the parallel realities of our current world. Along the way, the universally-beloved dreamer Don Quixote helps bring new meaning to our triumphs and defeats, reawakening our forgotten desires and celebrating the joys of great literature. Read a brief sneak-peek here!

  • Saturdays: Glencoe French Market

Don’t forget that the Glencoe French Market is open every Saturday through October 14. Stop by for your weekly filling of fresh, in-season fruits, veggies, produce and artisan goods.
