Phil_KiralyBy Village Manager Phil Kiraly

‘Tis the season for endlessly busy schedules! While perhaps unlikely, should you have time to spare this month, I hope you spend it in Glencoe! Check out this list of events and activities for ways to take advantage of all that Glencoe has to offer this holiday season. Happiest of holidays from the Village of Glencoe family to yours!

  • Through Tuesday, December 11: Glencoe Community Holiday Drive
Drop-off donations at Village Hall or the Takiff Center during regular business hours
In 1990, the Public Safety Department started the Glencoe Community Holiday Drive, a community service organization providing for the happiness and well-being of local families, low-income seniors and adults with disabilities. Holiday Drive volunteers collect care packages, unwrapped toys, non-perishable foods, paper goods and monetary donations.
  • Through Friday, December 14: Toys for Tots
Drop-off donations at Village Hall during regular business hours
The Public Safety Department is once again a Toys For Tots drop-off location this year until Friday, December 14. Help make the holiday season special for local children in need by bringing new, unwrapped gifts for any age group to the Public Safety lobby in Village Hall during regular business hours (Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).
  • Through Saturday, January 6:  Wonderland Express at the Chicago Botanic Garden
    10 a.m. and 5 p.m., Through December 21
    10 a.m.-7 p.m., December 22-January 6, Chicago Botanic Garden (1000 Lake Cook Road)
Stop by the Chicago Botanic Garden for Wonderland Express, an annual holiday extravaganza featuring model trains, magical and glittering indoor snow, intricate ice carvings and Chicago landmarks in miniature.
  • Tuesday, December 25 and Tuesday, January 1: Village Hall Closed
As a reminder, Village Hall will be closed on Tuesday, December 25 and Tuesday, January 1 in observance of Christmas and New Year’s Day. For both holidays, Tuesday garbage and recycling collection will be delayed by one day, with Tuesday collection on Wednesday. Normal service resumes Thursday.
