‘Tis the season for endlessly busy schedules! While perhaps unlikely, should you have time to spare this month, I hope you spend it in Glencoe! Check out this list of events and activities for ways to take advantage of all that Glencoe has to offer this holiday season. Happiest of holidays from the Village of Glencoe family to yours!
- Saturday, December 1: Coffee with the Boards
10 a.m.-Noon, Hometown Coffee & Juice (700 Vernon Avenue)
Meet with your local elected officials from the Village of Glencoe, Glencoe Park District, District 35 and the Glencoe Public Library over a cup of coffee and discuss community topics most important to you. - Saturday, December 1, 8 and 15: Saturdays of the Season

Enjoy visits from Santa, caroling and hot chocolate, tea and cookies while you’re out enjoying our local businesses, compliments of the Glencoe Chamber of Commerce. Use the link above to learn about the special events and offers taking place each day.
- Through Tuesday, December 11: Glencoe Community Holiday Drive
Drop-off donations at Village Hall or the Takiff Center during regular business hours
In 1990, the Public Safety Department started the Glencoe Community Holiday Drive, a community service organization providing for the happiness and well-being of local families, low-income seniors and adults with disabilities. Holiday Drive volunteers collect care packages, unwrapped toys, non-perishable foods, paper goods and monetary donations.
- Through Friday, December 14: Toys for Tots
Drop-off donations at Village Hall during regular business hours
The Public Safety Department is once again a Toys For Tots drop-off location this year until Friday, December 14. Help make the holiday season special for local children in need by bringing new, unwrapped gifts for any age group to the Public Safety lobby in Village Hall during regular business hours (Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).
- Through Saturday, January 6: Wonderland Express at the Chicago Botanic Garden
10 a.m. and 5 p.m., Through December 21
10 a.m.-7 p.m., December 22-January 6, Chicago Botanic Garden (1000 Lake Cook Road)
Stop by the Chicago Botanic Garden for Wonderland Express, an annual holiday extravaganza featuring model trains, magical and glittering indoor snow, intricate ice carvings and Chicago landmarks in miniature.
- Friday, December 21: Celebrate the Winter Solstice with the Friends of the Green Bay Trail
5 p.m., Shelton Park Playground (251 Harbor Street)
Celebrate the passing of the shortest day of the year with a Parade of Lights on the Green Bay Trail. Decorate yourself, your family, dogs, strollers and wagons with lights and things that glow. No open candles or flames. Come dressed for the weather!
- Tuesday, December 25 and Tuesday, January 1: Village Hall Closed
As a reminder, Village Hall will be closed on Tuesday, December 25 and Tuesday, January 1 in observance of Christmas and New Year’s Day. For both holidays, Tuesday garbage and recycling collection will be delayed by one day, with Tuesday collection on Wednesday. Normal service resumes Thursday.
