Although school resumes in just a few short weeks, the fun still continues in Glencoe. While August is known for family vacations and back-to-school planning, I hope this list of exciting upcoming events helps you to plan time to Explore, Enjoy & Celebrate Glencoe!
Saturday, August 4: Coffee with the Boards
10 a.m.-Noon, Glencoe French Market, Wyman Green
Stop by the Glencoe French Market to meet with your elected officials and local leaders from the Village, Glencoe Park District, Glencoe Public Library and District #35 over a cup of coffee. No RSVPs necessary.
8 a.m.-1 p.m., Wyman Green
This outdoor market is open every Saturday through October 13. Listen to live music as you explore a variety of vendors featuring fresh produce, baked goods, cheeses, crafts and more.
Friday, August 10: Tots-N-Tunes – Macaroni Soup with Miss Carole
10-10:45 a.m., Wyman Green
Catch the award-winning, kid-favorite musician Miss Carole here in Glencoe! This free family-centric event is sponsored by the Friends of the Glencoe Public Library. Event will be moved indoors in case of inclement weather.
Friday, August 10: Movies on the Green – Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Dusk (approximately 8 p.m.), Wyman Green
Grab your blankets, lawn chairs and lightsabers for this family favorite event! Feel “the Force” with a showing of Star Wars: The Last Jedi under the stars. Showing will be moved inside Village Hall in case of inclement weather.
Saturday, August 11: Walk, Run or Bike to the Green Bay Trail
9 a.m.-Noon., Green Bay Trail at Mary Street
Discover nature with the Friends of the Green Bay Trail by visiting the butterfly hatchery, taking a trail tour and making a nature craft at this free event! Event will be canceled in case of inclement weather.
Tuesday, August 14: Breaking the Bee Barrier!
6-7 p.m., Takiff Center, 999 Green Bay Road
Come see the joys of beekeeping for yourself at the Takiff Center! Learn from local beekeepers on how to start your own apiary.
Wednesday, August 15 - Sunday, September 23: Vietgone at Writers Theatre
7:30 p.m., Writers Theatre , 325 Tudor Court
Friday: Noon-5 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Chicago Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake Cook Road
Presented by the Midwest Bonsai Society, this show draws visitors from across the country and is often regarded as one of the top three bonsai shows in the nation. Enjoy a display of 200 bonsai trees, shop more than a dozen tree vendors and attend a variety of workshops at this free event.

Friday, August 24: Music at the Beer Garden
Monday, August 27: District 35 Move-In Day
Various times, Glencoe Schools
Students are invited to visit school buildings, deliver supplies and locate their classrooms for the upcoming school year. Please visit District 35’s website to see your child’s move-in time.

summer hours! Stop by Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:30-9 a.m. and Saturday mornings from 10 a.m.-Noon. 100% of the GCG is built, harvested and managed by volunteers.
