Residential Recycling Services
with Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) of Morton Grove, which will take effect on February 29, 2016, to provide residential recycling services. This agreement will replace the current contract agreement with Groot Industries which expires at the end of February. Through this new contract with LRS, Glencoe residents will be able to take advantage of the highest levels of recycling services expected. LRS staff is working with the Village on a comprehensive cart roll-out plan to ensure a smooth transition for Glencoe residents.
The Village’s process to arrive at this decision was deliberate and comprehensive. In response to a joint RFP with the Village of Winnetka, four proposals were submitted, and LRS was selected based on favorable pricing, service enhancements, and positive references from other municipal clients.
On Friday, January 15, 2016, an initial informational letter was sent to all households within Glencoe. A subsequent press briefing was issued by the Village describing the cart exchange plan, and additional information will be forthcoming in the month of February. A picture of the new 95-gallon recycling cart is below:
Recycling pick-up is once per week and is on your regular garbage collection day. Recycling is picked up only at the curb in 95-gallon recycling carts provided by the Village. Carts must be placed close to the street with the handle facing your house. All recycling must be ready for collection no later than 7:00 a.m. the day of collection. Single stream recycling collection permits residents to place all recyclable materials together in the collection cart without separation. Recycling materials should be loose and not bagged. To confirm your collection day, click this link. For information about recyclable and non-recyclable materials, please review our brochure.
