Plan Commission Endorses SWG Final Report & Recommendations
On Wednesday, January 16, 2013 members of the Plan Commission received the Sustainability Working Group’s Final Report & Recommendations and voted unanimously to forward the report to the Village Board. The report provides summaries and support information of four distinct initiatives the SWG completed during its 18 month timeframe. In addition to the summaries, the report includes a list of nine specific recommendations intended to build on current progress and maintain momentum going forward. A specific date has not yet been set for the Village Board to discuss the report and it recommendations.

Summary of Goals/Ideas Identified at March 10th GREEN GOALS for GLENCOE Event
On March 10, 2012, The Sustainability Working Group hosted a Sustainability Forum at the Glencoe Park District’s Takiff Center aimed at identifying “Green” goals for Glencoe. The purposes of the Sustainability Forum were to: foster a Village-wide conversation about sustainability; identify residents with an interest in sustainable initiatives; and provide a summary of the forum’s conversations. The following topics were discussed:
Renewable Energy;
Green Building Design and Construction;
Transportation and Land Use;
Solid Waste Management; &
Open Space.

Wright-Designed Glencoe Home Restored with "Green" in Mind
Glencoe residents John Eifler and Bonnie Phoenix are restoring their Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home located at 1027 Meadow Road and are hopeful to be awarded LEED Silver upon completion. Read the full article from the Spring 2012 issue of Preservation magazine:

Electronic Products Banned From Illinois Landfills Effective January 1, 2012
Discarded electronic products contain toxic materials that once landfilled pollute the soil and may leach into ground water posing a risk to human health and the environment. These same electronic products contain valuable materials that can be recycled for reuse. Permanent drop-off locations are located in Glenview and Winnetka.
